Putting the good old Atari 2600 to a proper view, needs some help of a little s-video pcb.

I done the mod and show some pictures comparing video Signal and S-video. I will prefer S-video and better RGB see other post.

Opening the 2600 and go to the TIA chip. Here you have to solder some wires

Atari 130XE cleanup

Donnerstag, Oktober 2nd, 2014

I bought a used Atari 130XE in a bad shape:

After doing my job:

Here you can see some photos about the process:

I used the dishwasher to clean the case. But attention you have to remove it during the cleaning process before the dry process starts. I suggest a time around 10-15 minutes.

After removing I cleaned the case with water. If you want to speedup the process you can use a hair dryer. For strong dirt you can use ethyl-alcohol. A tooth brush does a good job too.

For cleaning the keyboard I used plastic cleaner with a brush and removed the water with a pressure air compressor.

Have fun

Atari Paddle repair/cleaning

Dienstag, Dezember 15th, 2009

One of my favorite console is the ATARI 2600 and the game Warlords. It needs paddles but after 20years the paddles jitter.

It is not new and not hard to do, but after cleaning you will have a lot of fun with games like Kaboom, Super Breakout, Warlords…

If you want to use the paddles with a windows PC with retroadapter. The paddle adapter will be available in 1-2 weeks.

If you can’t do it yourself, we can help

You have to open it and the poti inside . After cleaning with isopropyl alcohol and using contact oil, the paddles will run like at the first day :-)
