Ultimate PC Engine Super Grafx

Donnerstag, Februar 27th, 2020

One to rule them all. Flagship of the PC-Engine Fleet -The Supergrafx.
A customer asked me if I can put a SSDS3 inside a Super Grafx and I loved the idea :-)

SuperGrafx2
It holds enough space to put a complete SuperSDSystem3 inside.
Now its possible to have the complete PC Engine Software Library including all CDs in one unit and it looks like stock level.

Removing the original Extension Bus makes it easier to put all the wires to the SuperSDSystem 3.

DIN 8 and Power from Super SD System 3

Montag, Juli 2nd, 2018

As I have open the Super SD System 3 for the Audiofix. I change the Mini Din A/V Connector to my common 8 Pin DIN connector, because I have a lot of consolse fitted with this same connector.

PCE_PowerInputviaEx_Port4

I am not a friend of cables from different sides of a console. So i put both RGB and Power supply in the back and have a nice looking PC-Engine Combo

Super SD System 3 Audio Fix

Today I revived a the holy grail of PC Engine Hardware a PC Engine LT.

PCE_LT_ (3)

Only 5 screws and remove 3 ribbons you will get the main PC Engine Board

PCE_LT_ (11)

Because of its age the Caps are brocken and need a replacement.

After some exchange in the power area it works again :-)

Jailbarfix Super Grafx

Dienstag, April 4th, 2017

not a big thing replace these 2 caps with 4,7uf/16V in SMD eg. G0805 and the jailbars are gone.

you will find them on solderside from the PC Engine Super Grafx.

Modding PAL TurboGrafx

Freitag, September 30th, 2016

I got some rare NOS TurboGrafx in 50Hz PAL Version.

What can we do with this kind of PC-Engine

a) Speedup and change it to 60Hz

-Exchange Osscilator X201 to 21.47727Mhz
-cut Pcz80 Pin 15
-Solder wire from Pad pin 15 to Pin 22

img_0442

b) RGB bypass for best picture

I took the RGB Signal from C154 to C156 after removing the Kerkos. The wires leads directly to the Hu6260 RGB-Out

using the rgbbypass PCB

yellow wire to desoldered PIN 44 from HU6260 (C-SYNC)

I am using an old „french“ pinput from the 90’th. So I have to reroute some cirquits

scart_PC-Engine_French_Layout_2016
Desolder Din and cut GND on Partsside for make standard french Version of Din8 Cable working.

c) Jailbarfix

exchange C137 and C133 to 4,7uf/16V

d) jap/eng switch

you need to switch 8 wires (15,16,17,19,20,21,22,23). I done it with two  analog switches  MC14551BCP

internal PC Engine UWRC Receiver

Dienstag, September 6th, 2016

I used my IFU-30 Unit, so there was no need to remove the RF Unit. As I didn’t wanted some wires to the left or right side.

I put all needed connections to the rear side. Power, RGB-Out, Audio Out.

I opened the RF-box removed the orignal switch and replaced it with UWRC switch.

Great feature, you can power off and on the PC-Engine via holding select and Run for around 1sec. Ideal for users of everdrives. Hope this feature will find his place in all new internal receivers from micro ;-)

UWRC PC Engine Shuttle Controller

Samstag, Juli 30th, 2016

A futuristic styled Controller for the PC-Engine Shuttle. Now its time to make it wireless.

thanks to the PCB of micro and some reposition of the led usb powersupply it works great.

I put it at the hole of the original wire and with some hotglue it works

PC Engine Duo R/RX RGB Mod with bypass PCE-TV

Mittwoch, Juli 27th, 2016

Nothing really new, only to see how to add THS Amplifier working in a Duo R / RX.

I used Pin 44 of HU C6260 C-Sync for Sync. So you have to cut the Video Signal to the Din Connector (yellow wire).

Black wire is optional, for „more“ GND

duo_rx_1

For the Din Pinout I used the old French Layout born in the 90ths. With RGB added to the 3 new Pins of the Din 8.1. The rest of Pins are untouched (exeption C-Sync)

3 resistors 22 Ohm are used for make PCE-TV work to output around 0,7V. The PCB is the 1st Revision of micro. Power is taken from a Elko nearby. (orange/black=GND, orange/red=5V)

Jailbars removement

After checking the picture there are jailbars :-(

After replacement of two  capacitor the picture is great.

replace C909 and C923 with 4,7uf down under Hu C6260

UWRC PC-Engine Cordless Controller

Donnerstag, Juli 21st, 2016

I done some ironical way of UWRC ;-)
Here i am using 3 of the 4 Batteries for powersupply of the UWRC, because of the max. voltage of 5,5V of the UWRC Board.
